The labor law of 2009 for Azerbaijan regulates the economic relationship between employer and worker which is based on equal footing. Here are some key points:

1. Labor Code: The principal piece of legislation governing labor activity in Azerbaijan is the Labor Code, which governs the rights and obligations of an employer vis-a-vis employees.

2. Employment Contracts: All employment relationships must be documented by written employment contracts, indicating the terms and conditions of the agreement for work including job duties, hours worked etc.

3. Working Week : The standard working week is 40 hours in Azerbaijan and is traditionally worked over five days. Overtime work is allowed but at much higher cost.

4. Wages and Salaries: The government sets a national minimum wage, which employers must adhere to. Salaries — Salaries must be paid, and employees are typically paid on a monthly basis.

5. Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Maternity/Paternity Leave (Leave and Holiday) Also, during the year, there are numerous national holidays where employees traditionally have time off from work.

6. Employers are ensured to provide a workplace compliant with occupational health and safety legislation, in order to prevent accidents at work or illnesses arising from these.

7. Cease to be employers — employment may cease by mutual agreement, resignation or dismissal. Although there may be a 30-90 day window in cases of terminations, however this timeline depends on the law and notice period.

8. Social Security: Employees in Azerbaijan are entitled to social security benefits, which include pension benefits, unemployment support and health care, the costs of which are covered via contributions from employers as well as employees.

Azerbaijani Citizenship: The process of obtaining Azerbaijani citizenship is carried out in several stages, depending on the legislation of Azerbaijan. The Steps Here is a brief summary of the process

1. Criteria: To qualify for Azerbaijani citizenship, a person usually has to meet some criteria like residency. This normally means having lived in Azerbaijan legally for a minimum of five years. Meanwhile, the candidate should also know the Azerbaijani language and recognize the Constitution and laws of Azerbaijan.

2. Submission Application: The process is launched by submitting application to the State Migration Service or respective Consulate of Azerbaijan when applying from abroad. The application should contain a personal statement, residence certificate, proof of language proficiency and other documents.

3. Scrutiny — After submitting the application, it’s scrutinized by State Migration Service. This involves going over the information with a fine-toothed comb to make sure all details are verified properly and conducting background checks to see if anything ALF pop up that could halt your citizenship process in its tracks.

4. Decision and Notification: A decision is made about the application at that point. An alert will be sent to the candidate informing about his fate. If approved, the person will be granted Azerbaijani citizenship and will be provided with a passport and other documents.

5. Oath of Allegiance (*not always): In some cases the applicant may need to take an oath of allegiance to Azerbaijan once their naturalization is approved.

Key Points:

Residency Requirement: At least 5 years of legal residency in Azerbaijan.

4- Language Proficiency: See Language Requirments in the Azerbaijani Language

Respect for Laws:Support the Constitution and laws of Azerbaijan;

Following the Constitution and laws of Azerbaijan.
